On March 9, 2019, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Sacramento held a Nourouz celebration that was open to the community, interfaith groups, and guests of M.T.O. students. The goal was to introduce people to aspects of Sufism and the relation to elements of Spring – such as renewal and rebirth. The program included poetry reading, storytelling, and an explanation of the Haft Seen table. Guests were given the opportunity to participate in Zikr, and were led through a brief experience of Tamarkoz®. After the program, guests were invited to share a meal of Persian food prepared by M.T.O. students. The event was well-attended, with over 80 guests. The feedback was very positive. Guests commented they enjoyed the energy and love they felt during Zikr, and the peace experienced during Tamarkoz®. Several guests expressed interest in attending Tamarkoz® classes and future events, and some said they would like to come to regular sessions. In addition to expressing appreciation for the program, the guests raved about the delicious food! Everyone had a lovely time sharing and getting to know one another during the meal time. Overall, the event was wonderfully successful and even exceeded expectations.
