On May 6, 2018, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® in Houston hosted an open house. Nearly 100 guests were in attendance, including members of the community and local professionals. The teachings of Islamic Sufism were showcased through a guided tour of the Sufi Center with displays of traditional Persian calligraphy, artwork, and musical instruments. A guided meditation session followed, where guests participated in moments of peaceful meditation. Young adult students of the school then engaged in a live Sufi Zikr. The history of the School of Islamic Sufism®, as well as students’ personal experiences with Sufi teachings, were topics of discussion throughout the program, which ended with an informal question & answer session while guests enjoyed traditional Persian foods, sweets, and tea. Guests were quite interested and appreciative of learning about Islamic Sufism and many commented on the beauty and atmosphere of the Sufi Center.
