Getting to know us...
We students of the Global Sufi Association are young students in diverse fields of research and profession. What binds us together is the search for self-knowledge on the basis of the principles of Sufism. Through Sufism, we learn love, unity, peace, freedom, and respect and try to bring them into our environment and society.
Our intention is to raise awareness about Sufism by hosting and taking part in various events. In addition to studying Sufism and practical exercises of Tamarkoz (Sufi concentration and meditation), we present different programs related to music, art, literature, poetry, and dance.
Our Society's aims are...
- To raise awareness of the Reality of Religion.
- To create a fun, positive, supportive atmosphere for the students at each campus.
- To raise awareness of the spiritual aspect of the human being and encourage a holistic view of the human being.
What is Sufism?
Sufism is often been referred to as a bridge between Religions or the reality of Religion. The focus of Sufism is to take each person back to their true Self which is independent and free of all worldly influences; thereby Sufism guides and helps; individuals realise the true essence of their being. Sufism is a discipline within Islam that much like a doctor’s prescription must be followed correctly in order to reap results. Sufism teaches that a successful human society is attained through the inward and outward harmony of each of its members and their harmonious existence in a unified system; much like the organs in the body must work in unity for overall health so must the individuals.
