Wednesday 19th March marked the first Norouz Celebration for MTO Sufi Society. In collaboration with the SOAS University of London and MTO College, MTO Sufi Society presented an impressive performance for individual of all ages. To mark the Persian New Year, the Norouz celebration consisted of Eid Zekrs, various traditional Persian folk dances, a Zurkhane demonstration and a remarkable Daf group.

The event was also broadcast live to an audience of over 3 million to ensure that as many individuals as possible could benefit from the programme. The stage was decorated with a recreation of the ‘Pole Khajoo’ (Khajoo Bridge) in Esfahan, Iran with a Haft Seen table placed at the centre of the bridge. At the end of the programme, guests were invited to a traditional Norouz dinner of Sabzi Polo Mahi, decorated MTO Sufi Society Norouz eggs, gift bags, delicious Persian sweets as well as many other treats.
